Should you judge a book by its cover?
That depends on whether the cover is nicely designed.
Yes, appearances can be deceptive. An attractive book cover does not necessarily guarantee quality content on the inside – but a badly designed cover will almost certainly indicate the opposite.
Simply put, if a book looks amateurish from the outside, the potential reader or buyer will in most cases assume the writing inside will match. If the writer or publisher neglects the importance of appearance, it can point to a lack of quality control within.
First impressions are very important. It is essential you make the best first impression you can. If you fail to grab the reader or buyer, or if you fail to visually convey your subject matter or genre appropriately, you may never get another chance to secure their attention or purchase.
